Each year during the 1960’s, 70’s, and 80’s, Temple Emanu-El held an Israeli Bond Brunch to honor an individual or couple for their service to Temple and to raise funds for Israel through the sale of bonds. We were always proud of helping Israel and raised thousands of dollars each year. At each brunch, the honorees were presented with the Israeli Leadership Award and a gift from Temple. There was a speaker and plenty of good food prepared and presented by our Men’s Club. In 1979, we honored Lou and Ella Shoolman, long term members. Their accomplishments are outlined in the Jewish Ledger article published at the time, shown at the right.
