(RE)INTRODUCTION TO JEWISH HISTORY
Sundays, 9:30 – 11 AM
This class will use Simon Schama’s The Story of the Jews to learn about current scholarship on Jewish history. Classes will alternate between viewing video episodes of Schama’s PBS series and studying excerpts from his two volume Jewish history. No previous knowledge of the topic is necessary.
Classes will meet from 9:30 – 11 am on the following Sundays:

Oct. 14 – Study and Discussion: The Origins of Judaism and Judaism in the Ancient World
Oct. 28 – Episode Two: Among Believers
Nov. 4 – Study and Discussion: Jews in the Middle Ages under Christianity and Islam
Nov. 11 – Episode Three: A Leap of Faith
Nov. 18 – Jews and the Enlightenment
Dec. 2 – Episode Four: Over the Rainbow
Dec. 9 – Study and Discussion: Jews in Eastern Europe
Jan. 6 – Episode Five: Return
Jan. 13 – Study and Discussion: The Holocaust and the State of Israel
